Macramé on a Saturday

Apparently string has been my thing lately. Last year I decided to learn how to embroider and a few days ago I decided I wanted to look into macramé again. I had played around with macramé casually when I was in middle school but I haven't done anything since then. I have a beautiful wall hanging that my dad made in high school hanging in my room and I have a beautiful bracelet my mom made in high school so I figured it was about time for me to lean into macramé as well!

I ordered Emily Katz's book Modern Macramé from Amazon along with a spool of cotton string and scissors.

I looked through a few of her designs and practiced on some simple knots on small pieces of string until I felt like I could get something down. After making my new Bean Bros coffee from Morgan Coffee Roasters in Sweden, I sat down and planned my mini wall hanging.

So here we have it. My first macramé wall hanging! I am pretty impressed with how it turned out! I'm excited to do more macramé projects this summer and push myself to bigger projects and more detailed knots.

This hanging consists of simple square knots in a diamond pattern with four spiral right sided knots at the bottom. Let me know if you would be interested in a macarmé backyard party sometime this summer!
