Orvieto, Italy

the last weekend I was in Italy I spent in the hill town, Orvieto, which is about 2 hours north east from Rome by train. The city sits on a plateau that looks over the rest of the hill country. There are winding roads to drip up the hills to the city or there is a funicular that runs from the train station up to the outskirts of the city.

This city is filled with history, artisans. good food, and cats roaming everywhere!

The food was amazing! I had to get some gelato even though it was only 6 degrees C but their hazelnut gelato was too amazing to pass up!  For one of my lunches I had a polenta with sautéed mushrooms and for my first dinner I had a tomato based sauce over cod with a pear arugula salad.

The charm in this town was beautiful. People had plants outside their houses and often sold oils, pottery, or olivewood kitchenware in shops on the street.
