My Plants
Today I watered my plants and had such appreciation for them and the beautiful sunlight that was coming in my open back doors. (because it was 60 degrees in March which is something to celebrate all on its own!) So, what follows are a collection of my plants and how I've been taking care of them.
IF YOU HAVE ADVICE FOR HOW TO BETTER CARE FOR ONE OR ALL PLEASE TELL ME!
Gryphon Begonia
This babe takes water every few days and lots of bright light to stay happy! We keep him in our "plant room" that gets beautiful southern light most of the day.
Snake Plant
Sansevieria trifasciata
I've had this plant for the past 8 months. I'm actually not completely sure how well its doing. I water it once every 2 weeks or when the soil looks completely dry. However, the leaves don't look like they are thriving as well as it looked when I got it. Maybe it just needs to be talked to more.
ZZ Plant
Zamioculcas zamiifolia (I can't actually say those words)
This little babe is from ONATA which is the cutest shop in Fountain Square. I've only had this ZZ for about 2 weeks and I've watered it twice. I got it because it needs little light and with working night shift my drapes are often shut and there can be days without light in my room.
Also featuring my moss ball which my beta fish enjoys sleeping behind.
Cactus
So, I'm not exactly sure what type of cactus this is but after about 20 min of google search images i'm 60% sure it might be Cereus peruvianus. I'm not convinced though. Yes, It still has those fake little straw flowers glued to the top because I don't know how to get them off.
Aloe and Hoya
This aloe has been with me for the last three years and is the longest i've had one plant (but i'm working on that, ok).
This little Hoya plant is also from ONATA from valentines, I've heard that people often overwater it so I have been sparing with watering it only once every 2.5 weeks and completely soaking the dirt when doing so. We'll see if that works.
Common Fig Tree
This tree is by far my pride and joy. I got it last summer and was nervous when winter came that it was dead because it lost all of its leaves and looked like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. However, early this spring it started exploding with leaves and is already showing new branch growth. I give it a good water once a week in the winter but once every 3-4 days with it growing so much and getting warmer out. It likes to be in the sun so this bright corner of our plant room has been perfect for it.
Prickly Pear
This little Opuntia needs some love. I often forgot to water it this past winter and actually knocked it over and lost some of its dirt a few months ago and never showed it the love of adding more. I was afraid it was dead but after closer inspection I believe its just unhappy rather than dead. Any and all help is welcome with this babe, friends!
