Wyoming
My dad and I took an RV from Salt Lake City, Utah up through Idaho to Wyoming to explore Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons National Park.
For the first time in my life, I requested my first week of Paid time off! I’ve been wanting to explore the west portion of the united states and i knew my dad had also been wanting to do the same so i suggested we take a week trip exploring it together!
we started by flying into salt lake city where we rented a class C rv and drove it up to the montana/wyoming border then down through the national parks in wyoming.
Our first full day in Yellowstone we saw old faithful, the guyser basens, and the grand canyon of yellowstone!
We got to old faithful 7 minutes before it went off!
We were going to ask to jump in but they told us that since the thermal energy makes the water 140 degrees fahrenheit so it wouldn’t really be the kind of hot tub we were looking for.
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
The grand canyon of yellowstone was so breathtaking! it was beautiful! it was also breathtaking because we hiked 600feet down a switchback trail down to see it from the look out!
Second full day of yellowstone we drove up to mammoth springs on the north border of the park. There were elk walking around everywhere, colorful calcium deposits from thousands of years of hot water pressed up through thermal vents then cooled and depositing the calcium in beautiful travertine formations.
after the springs we started a hike that went in and around the area for a few miles. it was blue skies when we started however by the time we got to the other side of the “hill” about a mile away we saw some dark clouds with rain coming across the mountain. 5 minutes later it started raining on us so we turned around. It was an adventure for sure!
we then drove up to the north Entrance where we were 20ft away from a family of elk!
Day 3 of yellowstone started out with this beautiful frosted beast
The great Prismatic spring in Yellowstone is the third largest hot springs in the world. The surrounding area is filled with smaller springs flowing into the firehole river near by. It was so cool to see the steam coming off the hot springs in the cool morning air.
Day 1 tetons: I was blown away by the sights at yellowstone but when i saw the tetons i had such a perspective change. i could stare at those mountains forever.
Me the entire trip
tetons day 2: we woke up early and saw the sunrise beaming down the mountains. it was the most magical experience i have ever been in. there were deer in the field below us and birds singing. The mountains seemed to come alive with the light moving from their points all the way down to us in the valley.
Our favorite hike was through cascades canyon, we went a total of 5 miles in a few hours due to be distracted by the beauty surrounding us!
on this hike we ended up seeing a grizly bear and her two cubs up on the mountain (120ish yards away from us) which was amazing and scary!
tetons day 3: we started heading back to salt lake city where we rented our rv from and were flying out the next day. even simply driving we had so much fun seeing the colors of the aspen trees and the mountains and rivers moving and twisting in a dance with the road.
